diy friday: homemade frappe

Yup, say so long to that nasty coffee chain you rely on to get tasty blended coffee drinks.

I’ve had intentions of making a blended drink with my homemade toddy for quite some time now. There’s a lot of weird ingredients in the ones at most coffee shops like artificial sweeteners, milk solids, and thickening agents.

Gross.

So I give you this: Homemade Coffee Frappe

Consider this the base one, the coffee one you could order. I plan on adding caramel, some cookies, or chocolate soon but this is the base recipe to start with.

It is not as creamy as others but it is good and quite refreshing. If you want it to me more creamy simply adjust the toddy/strong coffee to milk ratio to 1/2 cup coffee to 1 1/4 cup milk rather than the 3/4 cup coffee and 1 cup milk

Enjoy!

Coffee Frappe serves two

  • 3/4 cup strong coffee or cold brewed toddy
  • 1 cup milk, or milk alternative….I use unsweetened vanilla or plain almond milk HEB Brand
  • 3 tablespoons powdered sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla

Combine all ingredients in a sealable jar or blender and shake/blend until smooth.

Pour into your storage container.

To use combine half of this mix with one cup ice and blend until smooth.

Whipped cream and sprinkles are optional…or are they?

These have so many options!

Place in a big mason jar (as seen in the background) and give as a little gift

Add candies, caramel syrup, chocolate syrup, etc…when I’ve tried I’ll let you know!

Make a giant pitcher of them for a party.

Add some coffee or vanilla liquor to make them more of a “grown up” blended drink

….Just always remember the sprinkles, ok?

Have a great day!
